USA and Colombia Connect

To those in the travel industry: read this, published Sunday March 4, 2007 in the San Francisco Chronicle, one of many similar articles seen recently.

The USA-Colombia Connection

Not too many years ago, the phrase “Colombian connection” evoked cloak-and-dagger, sinister affairs – drugs, murder, kidnappings, violence, smuggling, just to name a few. That has changed significantly. Now we think of the Colombia connection more as an association with Colombian people for exchanging ideas, products and services. It’s the Colombia-USA connection, beneficial to both parties.

The truth is that now, Colombians have a lot to offer to the other countries (like the USA) where they have a big community – and growing every day. On the other hand, there are lots of goods and services they are eager and able to acquire. It’s a good exchange, where everyone wins.

Be smart: join the Colombia-USA connection.

This web site is an experiment to see if we can be instrumental in strengthening this Colombia-USA connection. If you like the concept, and have a product or service to offer, register here. Once registered, you will be able to add your business to our data base; then it will appear when someone searches this site for what you have to offer. It is FREE, painless and a question of a couple of minutes. And we will keep you current on important happenings, unless you opt out of our mailing list, which you can do at any time.

For example, look here: in the last few years, traveling for many Americans has become prohibitive due to the decline of the dollar against other major (and minor) currencies. Want a good idea? Go to Bogotá or Medellín and find great hotels, hundreds of places where you can eat well and get good transportation for next to nothing. And now, besides Juán Valdez coffee, you can bring back beautiful clothes – great fashion scene down there – excellent shoes, foods, arts and crafts, all good quality items. Or you can go do the same thing in one of the less expensive European countries, say Spain or Portugal, but bring at least twice as much money to spend.

You could be doing all that while the tech-starved Colombians are gobbling up your computers, iPods and iPhones or flying to Miami, New York or California by the thousands every day to rent a car, look at a new condo or go to Disneyland or Coney Island.

It won’t be long before Colombia becomes one of the world’s most popular tourism destinations and demand for her products multiplies. Big enterprises and investors are already taking action. Entrepreneurs, it’s now time to announce globally what you seek or have to offer!

An interesting site: it shows the faces of people in a few famous cities, one of them Bogotá - http://www.honory.de

This web site is bilingual! A link to switch language appears in first place on this and many other pages.
